Since 2002, JAMF Software has been focused on helping schools and businesses around the globe succeed with the Apple platform. Long before Apple became the world’s most valuable brand, Jamf Pro (formerly know as the Casper Suite) provided corporate and educational IT professionals with a best-of-breed tool to inventory, deploy, and secure every Mac and iPad under their control. To require LDAP users or Jamf Pro users to authenticate during setup, you need an LDAP server set up in Jamf Pro. For more information, see Integrating with LDAP Directory Services. If you add an Enrollment Customization configuration to the PreStage, this setting is ignored for devices with iOS 13 or later, and iPadOS 13 or later. Jamf Pro (formerly Casper Suite) is the EMM tool that delights IT pros and the users they support by delivering on the promise of unified endpoint management for Apple devices. At Jamf, connecting the Apple user experience with IT requirements has been our business for the last decade. Jamf Pro (previously known as the Casper Suite) is a management platform for macOS computers providing inventory, software distribution, operating system imaging, settings and security management. Jamf Pro allows IT administrators to proactively manage equipment lifecycles, efficiently deploy software and policies in a consistent method,. JAMF Software very recently asked me to present what Just Eat are currently doing with Casper Suite at the JAMF Nation Roadshow at the Royal Institute in London on Friday 16th September 2016.
Best Way to Manage Apple Devices
Having worked with a few other MDM systems JAMF is clearly one of the best and our cost for the system is pennies in the grand scheme of things.
What are the pros?
Central management of apps, devices, books, in house and apple content. Easy management of OS updates and more. Even the ability to customize the deployment of our filtering system was nice.
My previous system with the same school was painful. The old MDM required so much hands on time with devices that I spent a large amount of time just on student iPads each summer. JAMF freed that time up and I spend far less time in the management of iPads
What are the cons?
There was a learning curve on the book deployment system that ended up costing us some in licenses from Apple because the first set of instructions were not super clear. Once we worked with a tech from the company all was cleared up and now we have a solid process for such deployment.
